NEWydd supports local mental health charities during Mental Health Awareness Week

During Mental Health Awareness Week this May, NEWydd Catering and Cleaning reinforced its commitment to community wellbeing by donating funds to two local charities for every school meal served.

The initiative saw NEWydd partner with North East Wales Mind and The Woolley Experience Farm, linking healthy eating with mental wellbeing through a “Food and Mood” campaign in schools across the region.

As part of the week’s activities, NEWydd also collaborated with The Woolley Experience care farm to deliver a unique wellbeing experience for residents at Croes Atti Care Home, Flint.

Two miniature donkeys – Clementine and Cupcake, visited the residents, creating a memorable and uplifting experience that highlighted the positive impact of animal interaction on mental health.

The Woolley Experiences Therapy Farm, Zia Evans “We are incredibly proud to partner with local businesses like NEWydd, who truly understand the vital role animals play in wellbeing, and who give back to the communities and causes that matter most. Every donation helps us keep our doors open as a care farm and animal therapy centre, our animals are at the heart of everything we do. They visit care homes, schools and hospitals, bringing comfort and joy to children and adults living with autism, ADHD, mental health challenges, and those facing terminal illness.”

NEWydd’s fundraising efforts resulted in a £300 donation to each of the organisations , helping to support vital mental health services across Flintshire.

Natasha Wait, Business Development & Income Generation Manager at North East Wales Mind, said:
“On behalf of North East Wales Mind, we are deeply grateful to NEWydd Catering for their generous donation of £300. Your kindness makes a meaningful difference in our ability to support the communities of Flintshire and Wrexham.
We also sincerely thank you for championing Mental Health Awareness Week through your support of Food and Mood. It’s inspiring to see local businesses like yours helping to raise awareness and make a positive impact on children’s mental health. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion and support.”

Scott Lawson, Business Development Manager at NEWydd, added:
“The links between good food and how that can benefit your mood is something we understand, and as a business in North Wales we wanted to support local charities in some way during Mental Health Awareness Week. It was an ideal opportunity to connect our healthy school meals with a cause that would benefit both North East Wales Mind and The Woolley Experiences Farm, who both do valuable work in our community.”

The initiative forms part of NEWydd’s ongoing commitment to supporting the wellbeing of local communities through nutrition, education, and partnerships with organisations making a real difference.
