Schools across Flintshire embraced the excitement of international football as NEWydd Catering brought the spirit of the World Cup into dining halls with a special World Cup Theme Day, combining themed food, exciting competitions and fantastic prizes for pupils.
The celebration was delivered in partnership with the Football Association of Wales (FAW), UEFA and Net World Sports, creating an unforgettable experience for thousands of pupils across the 76 schools served by NEWydd Catering.
As part of the event, more than 400 footballs were awarded to pupils, while lucky winners also received tickets to the UEFA Men's Under-19 European Championship Final held at STōK Cae Ras, Wrexham. Southdown CP School also enjoyed a special visit from the official UEFA Men's Under-19 Championship Trophy, giving pupils the opportunity to see one of European football's most prestigious youth trophies up close.
To extend the excitement beyond the school lunch, NEWydd Catering partnered with Net World Sports to launch a county-wide competition inviting pupils, parents and school staff to vote online for their school. The winning school Hawarden Village Church School received £500 worth of sports equipment, helping to encourage physical activity and support future sporting opportunities.
